Canadian stranded in Kenya for three months to return home Saturday

TORONTO - A Canadian woman stranded in Kenya for three months is due to return home to Toronto Saturday.

Suaad Hagi Mohamud was detained when Kenyan authorities decided she didn't resemble her passport photo.

Canadian consular officials voided her passport and turned her over to Kenyan officials for prosecution.

Mohamud was finally able to prove her identity through DNA testing earlier this week.

The 31-year-old mother of one boarded a plane for home Friday and is expected to arrive in Toronto later today.

Her Kenyan lawyer has said Mohamud intends to sue Canada, Kenya and Dutch airline KLM for damages.

Prime Minister Stephen Harper said this week that his government has asked for a "full accounting" of how Canadian officials handled Mohamud's situation.
